Industry Guest Relations Manager
Summary
One of the largest draws to a convention is often a strong lineup of guests. In this position, you’re in charge of inviting industry talent and working with them personally to instate a working relationship between convention and guest. Often, this will involve one-on-one negotiation and planning months in advance.

Fan Guest Relations Manager
Summary
In addition to anime/gaming industry guests, a strong convention will invite dedicated fans to participate and share their expertise. This job will involve scouting possible cosplay guests and internet personalities and bringing them to Con-Jikan. Also, you will work with these guests to determine the best lines of programming for them to pursue on the schedule.

Guest Appreciation Manager
Summary
This job is an interesting one, as it largely takes place during and after the convention, rather than mainly before! It’s like a temporal flux! You’ll be in charge of making sure the guests feel appreciated, so this is a perfect fit for a designated guest liaison. Essentially, you’ll want to send out thank-you notes and gift baskets to the guests, so they know how much we loved them. Really, the goal of this position is to keep the guests in our thoughts, holding them in our hearts. Make sure they’re appreciated, and you’ll be the best Guest Appreciation Manager ever!

Guest Background Manager
Summary
This position is in charge of working with the Guest Managers and the guests themselves to vet them the schedule for the convention (panel times, autograph sessions, etc.). In advance of the convention, you are responsible for interviewing and marketing the guests through our communications department. This job requires strong research capabilities and an eye for detail.

Karaoke Manager
Summary
The time-honored tradition of singing Japanese songs comes to Con-Jikan, and the Karaoke manager is the one who runs the whole deal! You’ll need to create a karaoke set-up, be prepared to run it, and finally, work it into the convention schedule. Once that’s done, you’ll have to figure out the structure; should it be a contest, open mic, or both? Once that’s all done, just hang out, sing the Attack on Titan Opening ad infinitum, and have a great time!
Qualifications

  • Experience with audio/visual equipment and an ability to troubleshoot tech
  • A passion for song, dance, and performance art. A background doing karaoke would be excellent!
  • A willingness to get up on stage and entertain/emcee/sing!

Cosplay Chess Manager
Summary
Everybody loves cosplay, and everybody loves chess, so combining the two is just like combining peanut butter and chocolate! This job requires that you mastermind a life size chessboard paired with a proxy chess set. During the con, you’re tasked with recruiting people to be the players, pieces and judges. Finally, you’re responsible for emceeing the event or delegating the job to someone with a talent for impromptu humor.

Summary
The keystone event of any convention, the masquerade needs a dedicated cosplay fan to ensure all participants are justly rewarded with a fun experience! Your responsibility will be the organization and execution of the cosplay performance that is Masquerade–from pre-judging to performance to reward ceremonies to post-mortem.

  • A strong background in cosplay and costuming, and a discerning eye for skillful execution

Summary
Like watching anime, japanese drama, and youtube advertisements for the required five seconds? This job is a perfect fit! Your responsibilities include working with the audio/visual department to ensure all viewing rooms will have the necessary equipment and seating, working with the programing chair and manager to draft a screening schedule, and procuring all necessary screening permissions.

Summary
Gaming is one of the three pillars of Con-Jikan, and the gaming manager is the person overseeing it all! You’ll be in charge of electronic and traditional gaming, so you’ll have to work with local partners to figure out what kind of game set-ups to have, what kind of tournaments we should be running, and all the technical details in-between!

Fan Panels Manager
Summary
Panels are one of the biggest draws to any convention, and Con-Jikan is no exception! The Fan Panels Manager’s main roles are to look through panel applications for the panels that look the most fun and engaging, then creating the panel schedule so there aren’t any dilemmas for particular fanbases! You’ll also be in charge of making sure the panels are running well the day of the convention, making sure they have what they need to be both on-time and lots of fun!
Qualifications

  • Interpersonal skills are key; you’re going to need to interact with every panel runner
  • Experience working with Excel and Powerpoint
  • A keen eye for the bigger picture, and the ability to craft a working, non-conflicting schedule.

Rave and Dance Manager
Summary
The club-type atmosphere may seem highly chaotic, but there’s a lot of business behind it! Your job in this position puts you in charge of seeking out local DJs and negotiating their appearance at Con-Jikan. Beyond that, you’re in charge of establishing a setlist and schedule that involves all the necessary parts: DJs, music, equipment, lighting, sound, and so-on.
